Overview

The Turner Morris 80 mm trash pump (S-SPG80T) is a petrol-driven dewatering pump that moves dirty water full of sand, sticks, stones, leaves and sludge without blocking. A 6.5 HP, 196 cc 4-stroke OHV engine drives it to 45 cubic metres an hour at a maximum head of 30 metres.

The open-vane impeller has wide passages, so debris passes through instead of jamming a standard pump, which means less downtime on a flooded excavation. It is not suited to chemicals, fuels or corrosive liquids. For clean water, a 50 mm clear water pump is the lighter choice, and the full pumps range covers electric options.

Where it works

Pump out flooded excavations on Gauteng building sites, drain dams and ponds on Limpopo and Free State farms, clear stormwater after heavy KZN rain, or dewater mine workings in Mpumalanga. Because the engine is petrol, it works at remote sites without electricity and through load-shedding. Move it on a bakkie and connect the right hose; if a clean supply also needs pressure, add a 2.2 kW booster pump.

What can an 80 mm trash pump pass?

It handles water carrying sand, sticks, stones, leaves and sludge, because the impeller has wide open vanes. Very large rocks or long fibrous material can still block any pump. Keep a strainer on the suction hose, and do not use it for chemicals, fuels or corrosive liquids.

How high and how far can it pump?

It delivers up to 45 m3/h at a maximum head of 30 m, and can draw from a maximum suction head of 6 m. Real flow drops as head and hose length rise, so keep the suction lift short and the hose diameter at 80 mm for best results.
