Description

Overview

This flowmeter strainer and air eliminator mounts ahead of the 3″ M-80 bulk meter and does two jobs in one cast aluminium housing. A strainer basket traps scale, rust and weld slag from tanks and pipes, and the air eliminator chamber lets entrained air separate and vent before the fuel reaches the measuring element.

Both protect your money: grit wears the displacement element, and every bubble that passes through an unprotected meter is billed as fuel. The housing has 3″ BSP female ports and is rated to 10.5 bar.

It weighs about 11 kg, so it bolts in without lifting gear. Leave clearance above the cover so the basket can be pulled and washed without breaking the pipework.

Where it works

Fit a flowmeter strainer on every M-80 line that offloads tankers or draws from a storage tank: iron ore and manganese mines around Kathu, fuel depots, transport yards with underground tanks, and farm co-ops receiving bulk diesel. Questions about this product

Will this strainer fit my M-50 or M-100 meter?

No. This unit has 3" BSP ports to match the M-80. The M-100 has its own 4" strainer and air eliminator, and smaller meters need a housing to suit their bore. Tell us your meter model and pipe size and we will match the right unit, so you do not end up with reducers choking the flow.

Where exactly should I install it?

Directly on the inlet side of the meter, as close as possible, with the vent at the top so air can escape. Put an isolation valve before it so you can clean the basket without draining the whole line. Pipe the vent outlet to a safe place or back to the tank, never to open ground.

Do you deliver to Kathu, and what does it cost?

Yes. Our own trucks run from Polokwane to all nine provinces, normally in 1 to 3 days, and Kathu is on the route. The M-80 strainer unit weighs about 12 kg packed, so on its own it falls in the up to 30 kg band (R550). Add enough to reach R20,000 including VAT and the whole order ships free.
