Overview

The M-80 (BT-M80) is a 3 inch bulk flowmeter with a positive displacement element and mechanical totalising register, measuring from 75 up to 1150 L/min. It is the workhorse of the M-series for full road tanker loading and offloading.

Calibrated on site it holds about ±0.5%, and the cast aluminium body is rated to 10.5 bar. It weighs about 53 kg and ships crated at around 78 kg, so plan a lifting method. The register takes the M-series ticket printer and pulser.

Because the gear plate, register and strainer housing are common M-series parts, a damaged head or a worn drive can be replaced on site without sending the whole meter away. Keep a spare register on the shelf if the bay runs every day, and recheck calibration after any repair.

Put a 3 inch bulk flowmeter wherever full tankers load or offload: coal mines around Emalahleni receiving bulk diesel, fuel depots on the N1 and N4, and large transport yards with their own tank farms. Questions about this product

Should I choose the M-80 or the FMC-80 for my tanker bay?

Both are 3" positive displacement meters. The M-80 covers a wider flow band, up to 1150 L/min, and is set up for diesel and fuel oils. The FMC-80 rotary vane meter reads to ±0.2% and is rated for petrol too. For diesel-only bays the M-80 is the practical choice; for petrol or custody transfer, choose the FMC-80.

What do I need to install with the M-80?

Fit the M-80 strainer housing and air eliminator directly upstream, isolation valves on both sides and solid pipe supports for the 53 kg meter. Add flanges to suit your 3" pipework. Calibrate it on site before first use. A ticket printer or pulser can be added to the register at any time.
