Description

Overview

The FMC-50 is a 2″ rotary vane positive displacement flowmeter for measuring refined fuel where every litre is money changing hands. Sliding vanes in a rotor sweep fixed pockets of fuel through the cast body, which gives ±0.2% accuracy and repeatability of 0.07% or better between 38 and 380 L/min.

It handles petrol as well as diesel, paraffin, jet fuel and fuel oils, and runs at up to 10 bar. The mechanical register can take a ticket printer for delivery dockets or a pulser for remote reading. At around 40 kg it is a two-person lift, so plan a solid pipe support on either side.

Where it works

A positive displacement flowmeter of this class sits on loading arms and tanker offloading points: fuel distributors in KZN, depot operators along the N1, mines receiving bulk diesel in Limpopo, and airstrips handling jet fuel. Fit an inlet strainer and air eliminator ahead of it, because air and grit are what upset accuracy on bulk lines. Can the FMC-50 meter petrol from a tanker?

Yes. Rotary vane meters in this family are rated for refined fuels, including unleaded petrol, diesel, paraffin, jet fuel and fuel oils. For petrol work, plan the full installation with an air eliminator, strainer and correctly rated electrical add-ons, and have the meter verified on site before you use it for invoicing.

Can I print a delivery slip from this meter?

Yes. The mechanical register accepts a ticket printer, so your driver can hand the customer a printed docket for each delivery. A pulser can also be added to feed a fuel management system or remote display. Tell us what you want to connect and we will quote the right add-ons with the meter.
