Overview

The FMC-80 is a 3″ rotary vane custody transfer flow meter for bulk refined fuel, measuring between 75 and 750 L/min at ±0.2%. Spring-loaded vanes in the rotor carry exact pockets of fuel from inlet to outlet, so the register counts displaced volume and repeats within 0.07% from one load to the next.

It takes petrol, diesel, paraffin, jet fuel and fuel oils at working pressures up to 10 bar. The mechanical register is ready for a ticket printer or a pulser when you want printed dockets or a link to a fuel system. This is the bigger brother of the 2″ FMC-50, sized for full road tankers rather than smaller bowsers.

Where it works

Use this custody transfer flow meter where litres are bought and sold in bulk: tanker bays at fuel depots, offloading points at Mpumalanga coal mines, bulk diesel receipt at a Free State grain co-op, or a municipal fleet depot that checks every delivery against the invoice. It weighs about 54 kg, so plan a proper pipe support and a strainer with air eliminator upstream. Bolt it in with a flange set for bulk flowmeters, or compare against an electronic register on the M-80 digital bulk flowmeter. Our bulk flowmeters run from 1.5″ to 4″.

Questions about this product

Is the FMC-80 too big for a farm diesel tank?

Usually, yes. The FMC-80 only reads accurately from 75 L/min upward and is built for road tanker flows up to 750 L/min. A farm tank filled by a 1" transfer pump runs at 40 to 100 L/min, which is better served by a 1" or 1.5" meter. Choose the FMC-80 for depots, mines and bulk receiving points.

What should I install with this meter on a tanker line?

Put a strainer and air eliminator upstream, because grit damages the vanes and air pockets read as fuel. Add flanges sized for DN80, isolation valves on both sides and pipe supports to carry the weight. A ticket printer or pulser can go on the register now or later. Ask us to quote the complete set.
