Overview

This is a strainer housing combined with an air eliminator for flowmeter lines on the 4″ M-100 bulk meter. Fuel passes through a strainer basket that catches scale, rust and grit, then through a chamber where entrained air rises and is vented off before the product reaches the measuring element.

Both problems matter: grit scores the displacement element, and air passing through a meter is counted as fuel, so the customer pays for bubbles. The cast aluminium housing has 4″ BSP female ports and is rated to 10.5 bar across the M-100’s 130-1700 L/min range.

Where it works

An air eliminator for flowmeter installations is essential when offloading road tankers, where the last few hundred litres pull air into the line, and on suction lines from underground tanks at depots and mines. Coal mines around Middelburg and Witbank, bulk fuel depots and large fleet yards fit it as standard on 4″ lines. Questions about this product

Do I really need an air eliminator on a bulk meter?

On any tanker or suction line, yes. When a tanker runs low or a suction line draws a vortex, air goes through the meter and is counted as fuel. On a 4" meter that can add up to many litres per load. The air eliminator vents that air, and the strainer keeps grit out of the measuring element.

How often should I clean the strainer basket?

Check it weekly on a busy tanker bay and after any new tank or pipe work, when scale and weld slag come loose. A rising pressure drop or falling flow rate is the sign it is blocking. Close the valves, release pressure, open the cover and wash the basket in clean diesel before refitting.

Do you deliver to Middelburg, and what does it cost?
