Description

Overview

This explosion proof turbine flowmeter measures the flow of light fuels and oils between 1 and 10 m³/h and sends the reading to a controller, display or data logger. A free-spinning rotor turns at a speed in proportion to flow, and the sealed electronics convert that into a signal. The housing is flameproof, so the meter can sit inside a zone where fuel vapour may be present.

It is a sensor rather than a dispensing meter, so it suits automation and monitoring more than handing out fuel to vehicles. For a mechanical dispensing meter look at the OGM-50 mechanical flowmeter, or the OGM-50 electronic flowmeter if you want a local LCD.

Questions about this product

What output signal does it give?

The manufacturer lists both a 4-20 mA / RS485 version and a pulse version, so we confirm the output before dispatch. Tell us what your PLC, display or logger accepts and we will make sure the meter matches. Getting this right first saves rewiring on site.

Can I use it to dispense diesel into vehicles?

It is better suited to monitoring than dispensing. It has no built-in totaliser for a driver to read, so it needs a controller or display. For filling vehicles or bowsers, an oval-gear meter with its own register is simpler and easier to check by eye.

Is it safe for a petrol pump room?

The manufacturer states an Ex d IIB T4 flameproof rating, which covers many fuel vapour zones. Ask us for the certificate and have your electrician confirm it matches the zone classification and gas group on your site before installing. Cable glands and wiring must also be Ex-rated to keep the protection intact.
