Overview

A compression end cap closes the end of a PE or HDPE water pipe. The pipe goes straight into the fitting and the compression mechanism grips and seals it when the nut is tightened.

Use it to terminate a line, close unused pipework or isolate a section of a polyethylene system. It needs no heat, soldering or solvent cement. The range is rated PN16 and the maker states ISO 14236 / SANS 14236. More HDPE fittings are in our pipe fittings range.

Where it works

End caps are useful on water tank installations, irrigation systems, agricultural water lines and borehole systems, where a line must stop or wait for a future extension. Garden irrigation and PE/HDPE distribution mains use them too. Limpopo and North West farmers fit them on spare tank outlets. Do not overtighten, since force can damage the plastic. Pair it with a compression coupler or a compression equal tee elsewhere in the line.

Questions about this product

Do I need glue or heat to fit it?

No. Cut the pipe square, clean the end, loosen the nut, push the pipe in fully and tighten the nut. The compression mechanism grips and seals the pipe. Avoid excessive tightening, as it may damage the plastic. Tighten firmly by hand and check the pipe has not pulled out before you pressurise the line.

Which size should I order?

Match the cap to the outside diameter of your PE pipe: 20, 25, 32, 40 or 50 mm. Check the printing on the pipe before you order, because the wrong size will not seal. If you are unsure, bring a short offcut or measure the pipe's outside diameter with a calliper.

Fees are by total order weight: up to 30 kg is R550, 30 to 60 kg is R950, 60 to 100 kg is R1,450 and over 100 kg is on quotation.
