Overview

This 3 inch check valve is a cast-aluminium non-return valve for the outlet of M80 and M100 bulk flowmeters. It opens under pump pressure and snaps shut when flow stops, holding fuel in the line so nothing drains back through the meter. It has no register; it is a line component that protects your measurement.

On big lines the cost of a drained pipe adds up fast. An M80 meter runs from 75 to 1150 L/min, so a line full of air at the start of each delivery throws the count off on every load. Fit a sound valve and each delivery starts with a full, primed line. Part code CH004.

Where it works

This 3 inch check valve belongs on road tankers that deliver to farms, mines and forecourts, on depot loading points in Gauteng, and on bulk diesel installations at Mpumalanga coal mines where meter accuracy is checked against stock levels. It is made for the outlet of M80 and M100 bulk flowmeters with a 3" connection. Meters vary between makers, so send us the meter model and a photo of the outlet flange before ordering, and we will confirm the fit. For M40 and M50 meters, order the 2" check valve instead.

How do I know my check valve has failed?

Typical signs are a meter that reads high on the first litres of each delivery, a pump that has to re-prime every time, or fuel draining back into the tank after the pump stops. Open the valve and check the flap and seat for wear, dirt or swelling. A sticking valve should be replaced.
