Overview

The Speck BADU Eco VSD Pro 18 is a self-priming 0.45 kW pool pump with a variable speed drive built in. Instead of running flat out all day, it filters at a lower speed and speeds up only when you need more flow, such as when vacuuming or backwashing. The lower the speed, the lower the power use.

It suits pools of about 30,000 to 55,000 litres with a 2-bag sand filter, which makes a variable speed pool pump 0.45kW an easy way to trim running costs on a small family pool.

Where it works

Pool owners in Gauteng, the Free State and the Western Cape use variable speed pumps to keep summer filtration costs down and to ease the load on a geyser-and-pump circuit during load-shedding. Run it slow for the daily filter cycle, then step up for vacuuming. Pair it with the 2-bag Superflo Q80 sand filter or a similar 2-bag unit.
