Overview

The well probe is a water-level sensor that you lower into the borehole and connect to a 3HR or 3HRI solar pump controller. When the water drops too low it tells the controller, and the pump switches off before it can run dry and damage itself.

A solar pump runs whenever the sun is up, whether or not the borehole has recovered, and dry running is one of the quickest ways to kill a pump end and motor. The probe costs a fraction of that repair. It suits every 3HR and 3HRI controller, so you can fit it to an existing system or add it to a new one when you build the installation.

Where it works

Fit it on any solar borehole where the yield is marginal or the water table drops in the dry season, which describes a lot of ground in Limpopo, the Northern Cape and the Free State. It is made for 3HR and 3HRI solar pump controllers and suits all of them. If your system uses a different controller, check with us before ordering. Do I need a probe if my borehole has never run dry?

It is cheap insurance. Yields change with rainfall, neighbouring boreholes and the pump setting depth, and a solar pump keeps running all day. One dry-running event can ruin a pump end and motor that cost far more than the probe, so it is worth fitting one on every 3HR or 3HRI system.
