Overview

The Unitwist reducing elbow, 22mm x 15mm (code UT2020R), turns a 22mm pipe through a bend and steps it down to 15mm in the same fitting. That saves one joint compared with using a separate elbow and reducer, which means one less possible leak point and less room needed behind a wall. Both ends are compression and push-fit (CXC). The body is PPR plastic and the Unitwist system is SABS approved for hot and cold water. The elbow is made for Unitwist Monogold pipe.

Where it works

It is the neat way to branch off a 22mm main to a 15mm line around a corner: a geyser feed in a Pretoria roof space, a tank-to-trough tee in Limpopo, or a kitchen branch in a Durban renovation. Where the step-down is in a straight line, the 15mm x 22mm reducing coupler is the better pick. For the 22mm side, 6 metre lengths of 22mm pipe are available for small jobs.
