This 40 µF, 450 V run capacitor is the replacement part for the motor of a 2 HP submersible turbine pump. When the capacitor weakens, a single-phase pump motor struggles to start or hums and trips, and a forecourt can lose fuel sales until it is swapped. Keep one on hand with the 2 HP pump motor spares. It is a different value from the 25 µF part used on the 1.5 HP pump, so order by pump rating.

No. This 40 µF capacitor is matched to the 2 HP motor. The 1.5 HP motor uses a 25 µF part, and a wrong value can overheat the winding or leave the pump short of starting torque. Check the rating plate on your motor, or send it to us, and we will confirm the correct capacitor.

How often does a pump capacitor need replacing?

There is no fixed interval. Capacitors age with heat and starting cycles, and a busy forecourt pump may need one sooner than a farm tank. Replace it when the pump hums, starts slowly or trips, and a meter shows the capacitance has drifted outside 40 µF plus or minus 5 percent.
