Description

Overview

This self-locking dust cap seals a 4-inch API adaptor and holds itself closed, so there is no padlock to lose. It keeps dust, insects and water out of the tanker outlet and slows down casual tampering. The cap is cast aluminium, rated to 0.6 MPa, and at 1.2 kg is less than half the weight of the lockable cap. It comes with a chain.

Where it works

Use it on road tankers, trailers and fixed bulk tanks that see daily loading, where a padlock would be a nuisance. Fuel distributors in Gauteng, haulage fleets in Limpopo and mine bulk stores in Mpumalanga fit them to every API outlet. When you need a physical lock for unattended sites, the lockable dust cap takes a padlock instead. Is the self-locking cap tamper-proof?

No. It holds itself closed so dust and water stay out, and it slows casual tampering, but it is not a security lock. For unattended tankers where theft is a risk, choose the lockable cap and fit a good padlock, or park the tanker inside a secured yard.

Will it fit any API adaptor?

It fits 4-inch API RP1004 adaptors, the common bottom-loading size on road tankers. It will not fit smaller or non-API outlets. If you are unsure, send us a photo of your adaptor and its diameter and we will confirm that the cap is right.
