Overview

The GL3 fuel filter is a spin-on particle filter with an aluminium head for small diesel transfer pumps up to 56 L/min. Dirt down to 30 micron stays in the element, keeping it out of the nozzle, the meter and the engine you are filling. When the element is dirty, spin it off and fit a new one.

It is the smallest and cheapest filter in our range and suits 12V and 24V pumps running at 40 to 50 L/min. If water in the tank is the bigger worry, choose the 70 L/min water captor filter instead, or a water trap filter with housing for a visible bowl.

Where it works

A GL3 fuel filter is a good fit for workshop drums, small farm tanks in Limpopo and the Eastern Cape, and bakkie bowsers used by contractors and borehole drillers. Anywhere a 12V pump fills tractors, generators or compressors, it stops grit from a dusty tank reaching an expensive injector system. Pair it with regular tank draining for the best result. Write the date on each new element with a paint marker so everyone on the farm knows when it was last changed, and replace it at least once a season. More options are in our fuel filter range.

Questions about this product

Does the GL3 remove water from diesel?

Not really. The GL3 is a particle filter that catches dirt down to 30 micron. If you suspect water in your tank, use a water captor cartridge, which swells and blocks when it meets water. Draining the tank sump on a regular basis also helps a great deal.

Is it big enough for a 70 L/min pump?

It is rated to 56 L/min, so on a 70 L/min pump it would restrict flow and clog sooner. For faster pumps use the 70 L/min or 150 L/min water captor filters. On a 40 or 50 L/min 12V pump the GL3 is a good match.

How much does delivery cost?

The GL3 ships at 1 kg, so it falls in the up-to-30 kg band at R550 anywhere in South Africa. Our own trucks run from Polokwane and usually arrive in 1 to 3 days. Add spare elements to the same order, as they fit in the same band, and orders of R20,000 or more including VAT are delivered free.
