6 Inch Water-Filled Borehole Motor, 5.5 kW, 380 V Three-Phase

Overview

This 6 inch water-filled submersible borehole motor delivers 5.5 kW from a 380 V three-phase supply and turns the pump end at the bottom of your borehole. It comes with 6 m of motor lead, so all you need to do is join your drop cable to it. The windings run in water, and a water-filled motor can usually be rewound if it burns out, which normally costs less than buying a new unit.

The motor is rated to 35 bar and is matched to the SP17-10, SP30-5, SP30-6 and SP60-03 pump ends.

Where it works

Most of these motors go in as replacements on irrigation boreholes in Limpopo and Mpumalanga, where a winding has gone after a dry run or a lightning strike. They also suit stock water schemes, municipal supply boreholes and mine water duty.

Fit a 30Y intelligent pump controller (the 5.5 to 15 kW model) for dry-run and overload protection. Always match the motor kW and voltage to the pump end and your supply. This motor ships at about 46 kg, which puts it in the 30 to 60 kg delivery band at R950 for the order, and delivery is free on orders of R20,000 or more (VAT incl.).
