Description

Overview

The SP17-28 (also listed as VP18A-28) is a 6″ stainless steel multistage submersible borehole pump with up to 308 m of head and flows up to 24 m³/h. It belongs to the SP17 range, nominally 17 m³/h, and runs on three-phase power. At 12 m³/h (12,000 litres an hour) it still delivers 272 m head.

Allowing 10% for pipe friction, that suits roughly 247 m of total lift. The borehole must be at least 150 mm inside. Buy it as a complete set, or as a pump end to replace a worn one. See more borehole pumps.

Questions about this product

What is the difference between the SP17-28 set and the pump end only?

The set gives you the SP17-28 pump end plus an 18.5 kW 6" three-phase motor and, on 380 V options, a 30A controller. The pump end only is the wet end, for replacing a worn one on an existing 18.5 kW 6" motor. Cable, rope, delivery pipe and base plate are not included in either.

How deep a borehole suits the SP17-28?

Add your pumping water level, the height up to the tank and about 10% for pipe friction. At its 12 m³/h duty point this pump gives 272 m head, so roughly 247 m of total lift. The borehole must also deliver the flow, so ask your driller for the yield test.

Should I choose an oil-filled or water-filled motor?

Both drive the pump the same way. Oil-filled motors are sealed and rated 25 bar. Water-filled motors are rated 35 bar and can usually be rewound if they burn out, which normally makes repairs cheaper on bigger motors. Tell us your site and we will advise before you order.

Do you deliver the SP17-28 to Cape Town and Kimberley?

Yes. Kamano delivers with its own trucks from Polokwane in 1 to 3 days. The set ships at about 172 kg (delivery on quotation). Delivery is free from R20,000 (VAT incl.), and fees over 100 kg are quoted per order.

Why does the 525 V set come without a starter?

The 525 V set is the pump end and motor only. Your electrician must fit a suitable starter panel or VSD, because the 380 V controller does not suit 525 V. If you are not sure which supply you have, ask us before you order.
