Description
Overview
The 4SD3/10 is a 4″ stainless steel multistage submersible borehole pump with a 0.55 kW motor, built to lift water from medium-depth boreholes. It delivers up to 72 m of head at shut-off and up to 4.8 m³/h, and fits any borehole of 100 mm internal diameter or more. Buy it as a complete set for your supply, or as the pump end alone to replace a worn wet end on an existing 0.55 kW motor.
Key features
- Stainless steel pump body and shaft
- 10 stages for 72 m maximum head, with oil-filled motors on the set options
- 40 L/min at 59 m, a realistic working point to size against
Options
- 220V set + analogue control box (R 2,904): pump end, 0.55 kW 220 V single-phase motor and MA analogue control box.
- 220V set + 20Y intelligent controller (R 4,448): pump end, 0.55 kW 220 V single-phase motor and 20Y intelligent controller with dry-run protection, best for low-yield boreholes.
- 380V 3-phase set + Y1 controller (R 4,880): pump end, 0.55 kW 380 V three-phase motor and Y1 digital protection controller.
- Pump end only (no motor) (R 944): wet end only, no motor, to replace a worn pump end on an existing 0.55 kW motor.
Where it works
Typical jobs are home and smallholding water supply, garden and orchard irrigation, stock water and filling a storage tank on a rise. It is common on KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape and Mpumalanga farms and homesteads. To size it, add your water level, the height up to the tank and about 10% for pipe friction; the pump must give more head than that at your flow.
What’s in the box
- 4SD3/10 pump end
- Motor and controller on the set options
- Not included: submersible cable, rope, delivery pipe, base plate

Questions about this product
What else do I need to run the 4SD3/10?
You need submersible cable, a rope, delivery pipe and a base plate, as none of these are included. The set options bring the motor and a controller, so you only add the installation parts. If you buy the pump end only, it must go onto an existing 0.55 kW motor in good condition. Tell us your borehole depth and we will help you list the parts.
Which controller should I choose for the 4SD3/10?
Single-phase sets come with either the MA analogue box or the 20Y controller. The analogue box is the basic starter. The 20Y adds dry-run protection and is the better pick for a borehole that runs low in summer. Three-phase sets come with the Y1 protection controller.
How deep can the 4SD3/10 pump from?
It gives up to 72 m of head at zero flow and 59 m at 40 L/min. Add the depth to the water level, the height to your tank and about 10% for pipe friction. If that total is below the head at your needed flow, the pump will cope. Our team will check the numbers for you.
Do you deliver the 4SD3/10 to Polokwane?
Yes. We deliver with our own trucks from Polokwane to Kimberley and every other centre in all nine provinces, normally in 1 to 3 days. At about 20 kg shipped, this pump falls in the R550 delivery band (up to 30 kg). Delivery is free on orders of R20,000 or more, VAT incl.
Will it fit my 100 mm borehole?
Yes, the 4" pump fits boreholes with an internal diameter of 100 mm or more. Check the casing diameter at the narrowest point before you order, because a damaged or bent casing can stop the pump from going down. If the casing is 100 mm and tight, tell us and we will confirm the fit before you pay.
