Description

Overview

This 40 mm stainless steel screen filter screws onto a male-threaded fitting and keeps insects and debris out. Its most common job is on a tank overflow, where it works as a mozzie screen so bugs cannot get into stored water.

Because the body is stainless steel, it does not rust or break down in sunlight the way cheap plastic screens do. You can also fit it inside a tank on the suction side to stop particles reaching the pump, or on the outlet of a koi pond to hold back leaves and larger debris before they get to the filtration system. Check and rinse it now and then so it never clogs.

Key features

Does not rust

Where it works

Mosquitoes breed wherever they can reach standing water, so every rainwater tank overflow in Gauteng, KZN or the Lowveld should have a screen on it. Farmers also use this fitting inside header tanks so that grit and bugs never reach the pump. Pond owners fit it on outlets to protect their filtration. Rinse it whenever you service the tank.

Questions about this product

Will this stop mosquitoes in my tank?

Yes, fitted on the overflow it works as a mozzie screen, so insects cannot crawl or fly in through the overflow pipe. Make sure every opening to the tank is covered, including the inlet and the lid vent. Rinse the screen whenever you clean the tank so it never clogs.

What thread does it have?

It is a male-threaded fitting, 40 mm. It screws into a matching female 40 mm connection, such as a tank overflow fitting. If you are not sure of your fitting, send us a photo and we will confirm before the order ships.

What does delivery cost for a small part like this?

The screen weighs well under 30 kg, so delivery sits in our R550 band on its own, and it is free when your order reaches R20,000 or more (VAT incl.). Add it to a tank or pump order and the delivery is shared across the whole load.
