Description
Overview
The 40 mm brass float valve with arm (code 33700/040) automatically controls the water level in storage tanks, reservoirs and livestock troughs. As the level rises the float closes the valve, and when it drops the valve reopens, so the tank stays topped up without overflowing.
Brass gives it the strength to cope with high-pressure supply lines, with a recommended operating range of 200 kPa to 1600 kPa and a nominal pressure of 1.6 MPa. That makes it a sound choice for farm reservoirs fed from a pump. Pair it with barrel insert nipples on poly pipe, or see the wider pipe fittings range.
Key features
- Brass construction, corrosion resistant and durable
- 40 mm size
- Recommended operating pressure 200 to 1600 kPa
- Nominal pressure 1.6 MPa
- Automatic open and close as the water level changes
- Low-maintenance and reliable
Where it works
Fit it in the header tank of a Limpopo farm, on livestock drinking troughs in the Free State, in irrigation storage dams in the Western Cape or in commercial and industrial water tanks in Gauteng. It stops overflow and wasted water, particularly where a pump keeps feeding the tank, for example through hose lines joined with camlock couplings.

Questions about this product
What pressure can this float valve take?
Its recommended operating pressure is 200 kPa to 1600 kPa, with a nominal pressure of 1.6 MPa. That covers normal municipal supply and most pump-fed farm lines. If your line pressure is above 1600 kPa, fit a pressure-reducing valve upstream.
Can I use it on a livestock trough?
Yes. Livestock watering systems are one of its listed uses, along with storage tanks, reservoirs and irrigation. The brass body handles knocks and sun better than plastic, so it suits exposed farm troughs.
Does the price include the float ball?
The supplier lists the product as one brass float valve with arm, and does not mention a float ball. Ask us before ordering if you need the float included and we will confirm what ships with this model.
Do you deliver to Upington?
Yes. We deliver with our own trucks from Polokwane to Upington and the rest of South Africa in 1 to 3 days. At about 1.1 kg this valve is in the up to 30 kg band, so delivery is R550, and orders of R20,000 or more ship free.
