Description
Overview
This 4 inch breakaway coupling is a flanged safety link fitted into a bulk fuel hose. If a road tanker drives off while still connected, or a hose is pulled past its limit, the coupling separates at a set point instead of ripping the hose, the pipework or the tank outlet. That turns a dangerous spill into a contained event.
It bolts in between flanges on 4″ offloading or loading lines. It pairs naturally with a large-bore composite hose such as the 100 mm composite hose with Barret coupling, and smaller sites running 2″ lines can look at the 50 mm composite fuel hose. Ask us for the separation force and body material when you order, so you can match it to your hose and site rules.
Key features
- 4″ flanged connection for bulk hoses
- Separates at a weak point rather than tearing the line
- Made for heavy commercial tanker and depot work
- Simple bolt-in fitting between existing flanges
- Reduces spill risk and damage to fixed pipework
Where it works
Busy depots in Gauteng, mine fuel bays in Limpopo and the Northern Cape, and fuel distributors serving farming districts all see drivers in a hurry. A 4 inch breakaway coupling on the offloading hose is the safeguard for the moment someone forgets to disconnect. It also suits rail and bulk storage transfer points where long hoses cross busy yards. Find matching hoses and clamps in our fuel hose and fittings range.

Questions about this product
What happens when the coupling separates?
The coupling parts at its designed weak point so the hose and the fixed pipework are not torn apart. Shut the pump and valves straight away, contain any spill, and inspect the coupling before refitting. We confirm whether this model is reset or replaced after separation when you order.
Will it fit my 4 inch hose?
It has 4" flanged ends, so it fits between 4" flanges on a tanker or depot line. If your hose ends are threaded male or Barret couplings, you may need flange adaptors. Send us a photo of your hose ends and we will confirm what you need.
