Overview

This honey sucker truck unit is a 2500 L horizontal tank on a steel frame with a 6.5 HP petrol engine and a 3 inch trash pump, ready to bolt onto your truck deck. It empties conservancy tanks, septic tanks and pit toilets at up to about 50,000 L/h. The truck itself is not included.

It is our largest skid unit. If you do not have a truck, the 1000 L IBC honey sucker trailer, braked or the 1000 L horizontal honey sucker trailer, braked tow behind a bakkie instead.

Full, the unit weighs roughly 2,790 kg. A truck with at least a 4 tonne payload gives you a safe margin for crew, hoses and fuel. Bolt the steel frame through the deck or use rated chains, and check that the truck licence and roadworthy cover the extra load.

Why a trash pump instead of a vacuum system?

A trash pump is simpler and cheaper to own. There is no vacuum pump, oil separator or pressure-rated tank to look after, and spares are easy to find. It moves about 50,000 L/h on clean water and keeps going on thick sludge, provided you keep suction lifts short and the filter clear.

Can I start a septic tank pumping business with this?

Many small operators do. Before you take paying jobs, register with your local municipality, confirm where you may discharge and what it costs, and keep protective gear and disinfectant on the vehicle. Price per load, and remember travel to the disposal site often takes longer than the pumping.
