This 1400 L rainwater harvesting kit pairs a water tank with a gutter buddy and a first flush kit, giving you a clean-water catchment set-up from one order. It stores roof runoff for the garden, livestock, cleaning and household water, and it keeps debris and the dirtiest part of each storm out of the tank. Installation is not included.

Where it works

A 1400 L tank is a good step up from a basic 1000 L for a household with a garden, a small holding or a guest lodge. The first flush chamber catches bacteria from droppings and decayed insects, concentrated tannic acid and dust that wash off the roof at the start of rain. Gutter mesh and leaf catchers stop big debris but cannot stop dust and bacteria, which is why a first flush diverter is recommended. Delivery and warranty

Kamano delivers with its own trucks from Polokwane to all nine provinces in 1 to 3 days, with regular runs to Johannesburg, Cape Town, George, Upington, Pietermaritzburg and Rustenburg. Delivery is charged by total order weight: up to 30 kg R550, 30 to 60 kg R950, 60 to 100 kg R1,450, and over 100 kg on quotation. Orders of R20,000 or more (VAT incl.) ship free. This kit ships at about 42 kg, so it falls in the R950 band. Tank warranty: 1 to 2 years, depending on the model.
