Overview

This is a complete 1000 L rainwater harvesting kit: a 790 mm wide, 2000 mm high water tank with a gutter buddy and a first flush kit to keep the first dirty runoff out of your water. It suits homes and small plots that want to store roof water for the garden, livestock or household use. The kit does not include installation, and the pipes for the first flush device are supplied.

Where it works

A 1000 L tank fits beside a house, a garage or a small shed where a larger tank will not fit. The first flush device sits on the downpipe: when rain starts, the chamber fills and a ball floats up onto its seat to close it, and clean water then goes on to the tank. It is best to fit one first flush diverter on each downpipe, or one near the tank to serve several. The tap and the valve let you drain the diverter after rain. Connect it to a 3 m D-shaped gutter and gutter outlet, or see the full rainwater harvesting range for larger tanks. It works well in Limpopo and Gauteng, where long dry spells make every storm count.

Delivery and warranty

Kamano delivers with its own trucks from Polokwane to all nine provinces in 1 to 3 days, with regular runs to Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Gqeberha, Bloemfontein and Mbombela. Delivery is charged by total order weight: up to 30 kg R550, 30 to 60 kg R950, 60 to 100 kg R1,450, and over 100 kg on quotation. Orders of R20,000 or more (VAT incl.) ship free. This kit ships at about 33 kg, so it falls in the R950 band. Tank warranty: 1 to 2 years, depending on the model.
