Description

Overview

The 4SD8/20 is a 4 inch stainless steel multistage submersible borehole pump from the Vega 4SD8 range, rated for up to 126 m of head with a 3 kW motor. It lifts 112 m at 40 L/min, 95 m at 100 L/min and still holds 37 m at 180 L/min, so it is a mid-range lift pump for farms, homes and small industry.

To size it, add the depth to your water level, the height to your tank and about 10% for pipe friction. Send us your borehole details if you are unsure.

Is the 4SD8/20 sold as a complete borehole pump set?

The 4SD8/20 ships as a complete set or as a pump end only, depending on the option you choose. The sets include the 3 kW oil-filled motor and the matching controller or VSD. Submersible cable, rope, delivery pipe and base plate are not included, so allow for those when you plan the installation. Ask us if you want help listing what else you need.

Which controller should I choose for the 4SD8/20?

The 4SD8/20 is supplied with the Y1 digital protection controller on the 380 V three-phase set, which guards the motor. The 525 V set comes with a variable speed drive (VSD) for soft starting and speed control. Choose the pump end only if you already own a working 3 kW motor and just need to replace the wet end. Contact us if you are not sure which power supply you have.

Will the 4SD8/20 fit my borehole?

Yes. The 4SD8/20 is a 4 inch pump, so it fits a borehole with an internal diameter of 100 mm or more. Check the casing first. Then add your water level, the lift to your tank and about 10% for pipe friction. If that total head is below the pump's head at your flow, such as 95 m at 100 L/min, the pump will do the job.
