The 50 mm waste bend at 45 degrees changes the direction of a 50 mm PVC waste pipe by a gentle angle, so wastewater carries on flowing without a sharp corner to catch on. It is a precision-moulded PVC fitting with a smooth internal surface, used in residential, commercial and farm drainage systems. Two 45 degree bends together make a neat offset, and one on its own handles a gradual turn.

This bend is used for bathroom drainage, kitchen waste systems, residential plumbing, commercial drainage and general repairs and upgrades. Gradual changes in direction improve flow compared to sharper angles, so a 45 degree bend is the better choice wherever you have room, for example when a waste line leaves a wall and heads towards a main drain. On farms and lodges in Limpopo and Mpumalanga it is used on wash bays, kitchens and ablution blocks. If you need a tighter turn, there is also the 87.5 degree waste bend. When should I use a 45 degree bend instead of 87.5 degrees?

Use a 45 degree bend for gradual turns, which keep wastewater flowing better than a sharp corner. Use the 87.5 degree bend where the pipe must turn almost a right angle in a short space.

What pipe size does it take?

It is made for 50 mm waste pipe. Push the pipe fully into the socket and glue it with PVC solvent cement. Clean and dry the pipe end first.

Can you send a few bends to Mbombela?

Yes. We deliver to Mbombela and all nine provinces in 1 to 3 days. A bend is under 0.2 kg shipped, so it falls in the R550 band for orders up to 30 kg. Add pipe, sockets and tees to share that fee.
