Overview

This 2,500 L vertical water tank is a round, ribbed tank, 1400 mm across and 1750 mm tall, for houses, lodges and small farms. It is rotationally moulded from food-grade virgin LLDPE, UV resistant and BPA free, with a black inner liner against algae.

A child-safe 180 mm lid sits on the top, and sealed 40 mm connectors are supplied: a 40 mm inlet at the top and a 40 mm outlet at the base. At 45 kg empty it is easy to place on a prepared base. The tank is made for water storage, for domestic and commercial use and for livestock water. It is wider and lower than a slim tank, so it needs floor space but little height.

Where it works

This size is a favourite for rainwater harvesting off a house roof in the Western Cape and KZN, and for borehole storage on a Limpopo smallholding. It also serves as a header tank for a garden or for livestock troughs. The low 1750 mm height suits carports and tight spots. Level the base, secure the tank once full, and keep it above ground. Add a pump later through the base outlet.

A flat, firm base of at least 1400 mm across, plus room around it for access and for the outlet fittings. It stands 1750 mm high. Filled, it carries about 2.5 tonnes of water, so the base must be sound.

Is it suitable for drinking water?

The tank is made from food-grade LLDPE with a black inner liner. Clean it before use, keep the lid in place, and treat or filter the water as needed. For rainwater, a leaf screen and filter stage help a lot.
