This 2500 L rainwater harvesting kit combines a water tank with a gutter buddy and a first flush kit, so you can start collecting cleaner roof water from a single order. Stored rainwater serves the garden, livestock, washing and household use, and it eases the load on a borehole or municipal supply when you need it most. Installation is not included.

Where it works

A 2500 L tank is a sensible size for a home with a large garden, a guest lodge, a church hall, a small school or a smallholding. The first flush device is installed on the downpipe that feeds the tank. As the chamber fills, the ball rises and seats, shutting the diverter, and the clean flow then goes through the T piece into the tank. A single unit placed near the tank can handle several downpipes, but one per downpipe is best. How big your roof is and how clean you want the water will decide your set-up. The system works best with a leaf catcher box at the top of the downpipe. Combine with a 4 m D-shaped gutter and a gutter outlet, and see the whole rainwater harvesting range. Suited to Limpopo, North West and Free State properties.

Delivery and warranty

Kamano delivers with its own trucks from Polokwane to all nine provinces in 1 to 3 days, with regular runs to Johannesburg, Pretoria, Rustenburg, Mahikeng, Welkom and Kimberley. Delivery is charged by total order weight: up to 30 kg R550, 30 to 60 kg R950, 60 to 100 kg R1,450, and over 100 kg on quotation. Orders of R20,000 or more (VAT incl.) ship free. This kit ships at about 66 kg, so it falls in the R1,450 band. Tank warranty: 1 to 2 years, depending on the model.
