Overview

This 2200 L rainwater harvesting kit gives you a mid-size storage tank, a gutter buddy and a first flush kit in one order. It collects roof runoff and stores it for irrigation, livestock, washing down and general household use, while the first flush diverter keeps the dirtiest water out. Installation is not included. The kit is separate from our tank and pump combos, which add a pump to a tank.

Where it works

A 2200 L tank suits a family home with a vegetable garden, a guest house, a small farm homestead or a school. At the start of rain, the roof and gutters wash off bacteria from droppings and decomposed insects, concentrated tannic acid and sediment. The first flush chamber catches that water, a floating ball seals it when full, and the cleaner flow goes to the tank. After the rain, drain the unit through the valve; screw off the end cap to clean it every so often. A leaf catcher box at the top of the downpipe helps the system work best. Delivery and warranty

Kamano delivers with its own trucks from Polokwane to all nine provinces in 1 to 3 days, with regular runs to Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Richards Bay, Bloemfontein and eMalahleni. Delivery is charged by total order weight: up to 30 kg R550, 30 to 60 kg R950, 60 to 100 kg R1,450, and over 100 kg on quotation. Orders of R20,000 or more (VAT incl.) ship free. This kit ships at about 61 kg, so it falls in the R1,450 band. Tank warranty: 1 to 2 years, depending on the model.
