Overview

The compression reducing tee branches a smaller HDPE pipe off a larger main line using one fitting. It has three compression connections, with the branch outlet sized down so you can run a 25 mm feed off a 40 mm main, for example, without a separate reducer. No heat or soldering is involved.

Inside, a rubber O-ring seals each pipe, so the joints stay watertight on straight pipe or a slight bend. The body is polypropylene, the rating is PN16 (16 bar) and the manufacturer states it is made to ISO 14236 and SANS 14236.

Where it works

Reach for it on farm water supply, irrigation networks, tank installations and general HDPE pipework, such as a Western Cape vineyard block fed off a larger main, or a Free State stock-water line with a branch to a trough. Cut the pipe square, remove rough edges, push each pipe in fully, then tighten the blue nuts evenly and check all three joints before pressurising. If both ends of your joint run in a line, a reducing coupler is neater. For a threaded take-off, look at the male tee. All are listed under pipe fittings.
