Description

Overview

The 4SD8/12 is a 4 inch stainless steel multistage submersible borehole pump from the Vega 4SD8 range, rated for up to 76 m of head with a 1.5 kW motor. It lifts 67 m at 40 L/min, 57 m at 100 L/min and still holds 22 m at 180 L/min, so it is a mid-range lift pump for farms, homes and small industry.

To size it, add the depth to your water level, the height to your tank and about 10% for pipe friction. Send us your borehole details if you are unsure.

The 4SD8/12 ships as a complete set or as a pump end only, depending on the option you choose. The sets include the 1.5 kW oil-filled motor and the matching controller or VSD. Submersible cable, rope, delivery pipe and base plate are not included, so allow for those when you plan the installation. Ask us if you want help listing what else you need.

Which controller should I choose for the 4SD8/12?

For the 4SD8/12 on 220 V, the MA analogue box is the basic starter. The 20Y intelligent controller adds dry-run protection and is the better choice for a low-yield borehole that can run dry. On 380 V three-phase, the set comes with the Y1 digital protection controller.

Will the 4SD8/12 fit my borehole?

Yes. The 4SD8/12 is a 4 inch pump, so it fits a borehole with an internal diameter of 100 mm or more. Check the casing first. Then add your water level, the lift to your tank and about 10% for pipe friction. If that total head is below the pump's head at your flow, such as 57 m at 100 L/min, the pump will do the job. Do you deliver the 4SD8/12 to Pietermaritzburg?
