This IBC diesel bowser is a 1000 litre HDPE tank in a galvanised steel cage on a pallet base, fitted with a 12V diesel pump, a flow meter, a fuel filter, a delivery hose and a nozzle. It stores bulk diesel on site and dispenses it clean and measured into tractors, generators and plant, using power from any 12V battery.

The filter is the reason to choose it. Diesel from bulk deliveries and old tanks often carries grit and water, and the filter catches dirt before it reaches injectors. The meter shows how many litres went into each machine, which helps when several drivers share the tank.

Questions about this product

Can I run this bowser off my bakkie battery?

Yes. The pump is 12V DC, so it clips onto a bakkie, tractor or deep-cycle battery. Keep the engine running on long transfers so you do not flatten the battery. No generator or mains connection is needed, which makes it handy on remote farm lands and sites far from Eskom supply.

Can I use it for petrol?

No. This IBC bowser and its 12V pump are set up for diesel only. Petrol needs an explosion-proof pump and a tank built for flammable fuel, so do not use this unit for petrol, even for a quick transfer. It is fine for diesel and, with care, paraffin.

How much is delivery to a farm in the Karoo?

The bowser ships empty at 70 kg, which puts it in the 60 to 100 kg band at R1,450, including farms in the Karoo. Our own trucks run from Polokwane and usually arrive within 1 to 3 days. If your order totals R20,000 or more including VAT, the delivery is free.

Can I carry it full on a bakkie?

Be careful. Diesel weighs about 0.84 kg per litre, so a full tank is roughly 840 kg plus the 70 kg unit. That exceeds the payload of many single-cab bakkies. Most customers keep it on site and fill it from a bulk supplier, or transport it partly filled within the vehicle's rated load.
