Description

Overview

This diesel honey sucker is a reconditioned 1000 L IBC fitted with a 6.5 HP diesel engine and a 3 inch centrifugal trash pump. It pulls sewage and sludge out of septic tanks, conservancy tanks and pit toilets at up to about 50,000 L/h, then discharges through a layflat hose at the disposal point.

To be clear on the pump: this is a trash-pump unit, not a vacuum tanker, which keeps it simple to run and fix. Diesel suits operators who want one fuel on the vehicle. For a bigger load on its own frame, see the 2000 L honey sucker skid unit, or tow the work with the 650 L honey sucker trailer, braked.

Key features

  • 6.5 HP diesel engine, easy on fuel for long pumping days
  • 3 inch centrifugal trash pump moving about 50,000 L/h at around 2.5 bar
  • Reconditioned 1000 L IBC in a steel cage with forklift base
  • 6 m × 63 mm suction hose with filter and 10 m × 63 mm layflat outlet
  • Aluminium quick couplers for fast hose changes

Where it works

A diesel honey sucker makes sense for farm contractors and municipal teams in Limpopo and the Eastern Cape who already refuel tractors and bakkies from a diesel bowser. It services pit toilets at rural schools and clinics, conservancy tanks on Gauteng plots, and septic systems at lodges where the nearest sewer is many kilometres away.

Mines and construction camps use it to empty site ablutions on a schedule. See every size in our honey suckers range.

Questions about this product

Is this a vacuum tanker?

No. It uses a 3 inch centrifugal trash pump driven by the engine on the unit, not a vacuum pump. The trash pump pulls waste up the suction hose and pushes it into the tank, then empties the load through the layflat hose. It handles sludge and small solids well, and there is no vacuum system to service.

Why pick diesel over the petrol model?

Diesel engines use less fuel per hour and last well under heavy daily use, and you can fill from the same bowser as your bakkie or tractor. The petrol model costs less upfront and starts easily in cold weather. If you pump most days, diesel usually pays back the difference.

Where can I empty the tank?

Only at a point your municipality or the site owner has approved, usually a wastewater treatment works or a sewer manhole they have authorised. Dumping sewage in the veld or a river is illegal and a health risk. Ask your local municipality about disposal fees and permits before you start a pumping business.

How much is delivery to Mthatha?

Nothing. At R25,316.55 VAT incl. this unit is over our R20,000 free-delivery mark on its own, so we bring it to Mthatha at no charge. It ships at 131 kg on a Kamano truck from Polokwane and normally arrives in 1 to 3 days. Tell us about any tricky access road when you order.
