Overview

This 5000 litre water tank with 0.55kw pump is a complete drinking-water set: a 5,000 L vertical tank, a 0.55 kW monoblock centrifugal pump rated up to 92 L/min and 26 m of head, a 3-stage wall filter and a 55 W UV steriliser, all supplied together. It moves a lot of water at modest pressure, so it fills drums, bowsers and header tanks quickly and suits level or gently sloping runs rather than long climbs.

The 5,000 L tank is double-layered rotomoulded virgin LLDPE with a black inner liner against algae, about 2.2 m high and 1.8 m across, with a 45 cm manhole and a screw-on lid with handles.

Will this tank and pump kit work during load-shedding?

The pump needs mains power or a generator or inverter that can cover the starting surge of a 0.55 kW motor, which is well above its running load. The 5,000 L tank holds a reserve, so fill it while the grid is on and draw on it later. Tell us your backup set-up and we will check the match.

Can this 0.55 kW monoblock lift water from a dam or sump?

Yes, with a foot valve it can draw up to about 6 m, depending on altitude, and you must fill the suction line before the first start. It is a surface pump, so it will not work from a deep borehole on its own. Keep it near the tank and ask us about submersibles for boreholes.

Can I drink water treated by the filter and UV unit?

The 3-stage filter takes out sediment, chlorine, taste and odour, and the 55 W UV steriliser targets bacteria, so together they improve drinking water. The UV unit is rated 2,700 L/h, so size your treated line to that. Test your source water first, because heavy contamination may need extra treatment.
