Description

Overview

The 4SD8/5 72 V low-voltage DC solar borehole pump kit is a complete 0.75 kW, 4 inch package that lifts water up to 47 m at up to 13.9 m³/h. It is made for boreholes, wells and reservoirs of 100 mm and larger, and Kamano delivers it to every province.

In the kit you get a stainless steel 4 inch wet end, a brushless DC (BLDC) motor with 100% copper windings and a matching low-voltage DC solar controller. It is a full DC system with no mains or generator needed, so it suits off-grid farms and remote stock water points.

Sizing is simple. This kit is rated for water levels up to about 35 m and is designed to run on about 1,650 W of panels, which is 3 standard 550 W panels wired together at 72 V. The array is bigger than the motor rating on purpose, to cover cloudy days, cable and controller losses and a poor sun angle.

Key features

  • Stainless steel 4 inch submersible wet end
  • Brushless DC motor with 100% copper windings
  • Matching low-voltage DC solar controller included, no mains or generator needed
  • Soft-start control with under-voltage, over-voltage, overload and dry-run protection
  • Easy to install, maintenance-free
  • Pumps non-corrosive water with no more than 1% sand by volume, up to 40 °C

Where it works

With 13.9 m³/h on offer this kit is for volume rather than lift: filling dams and reservoirs, feeding drip lines or running a village supply from a shallow borehole.

It trades head for flow compared with the 4SD6/5 kits. Deeper borehole or different flow? The 4SD range stretches up to 240 m head. Ask us before you order. See the other kits in our solar pump range, such as the 4SD8/5 kit at 110 V and 56 m head.

What’s in the box

  • 4 inch stainless steel pump end
  • Brushless DC borehole motor
  • Low-voltage DC solar controller
  • Solar panels are sold separately

Questions about this product

How many solar panels do I need for the 4SD8/5 0.75 kW kit?

You need about 1,650 W of panels, which is 3 standard 550 W panels wired together at 72 V. The array is deliberately larger than the 0.75 kW motor so the pump still performs on cloudy days and after cable and controller losses. If you use panels of a different wattage the count changes, so ask us to check your layout.

Does it work without mains power or a generator?

Yes. This is a full DC solar kit, so it needs no mains supply or generator. The pump runs when the panels give it sun, which is why most owners pump into a storage tank and gravity-feed from there for the evening and early morning.

How deep can the water level be for the 4SD8/5?

The kit is rated for water levels up to about 35 m, with a maximum head of 47 m. Measure the depth to the water, not the total borehole depth, and leave margin for pipe friction and a falling water table. If your level is deeper than 35 m, ask us about a higher-head 4SD kit.

Do you deliver the 4SD8/5 kit to Bloemfontein?

Yes. Kamano delivers with its own trucks from Polokwane to all nine provinces in 1 to 3 days. This kit ships at about 15 kg, so delivery falls in the up to 30 kg band at R550, and orders of R20,000 or more are delivered free. Tell us your town and we will confirm the delivery time.
