Overview

This 12v diesel transfer pump is a compact rotary-vane pump that moves up to 40 L/min of diesel from a drum, IBC or tank. It is the bare pump with a 1.5 m power cable, ready for you to add hose, nozzle and fittings to suit your own setup.

At only 4 kg it is a sensible choice for fitting to a homemade bowser, a trailer tank or a spare tank on the bakkie. If you would rather buy a complete setup, our wall-plate kits use the same pump with hose and nozzle already fitted, so you can pick whichever suits your budget and site.

How long can this pump run without stopping?

Supplier figures for this model give a duty cycle of 15 to 30 minutes. To be safe, run it for about 15 minutes, then let the motor cool for a similar time. At 40 L/min that still moves around 600 litres per run, which covers most tractor and generator fills.

Will it pump paraffin or petrol?

It handles diesel and paraffin. It must not be used for petrol, because the motor is not sealed against flammable vapour and the seals are not rated for it. For petrol or avgas you need a pump that is specifically built and certified for those fuels.
